In a widely circulated report, Business Insider explains how reverse mortgages are rarely beneficial and how they are generally fraudulently marketed to the elderly They claim Selleck should not be endorsing the commercials because they are destructive and immoral. “Tom Selleck is a  horrible rotten person. one Twitter user stated, “He’s being paid to push reverse mortgages so elders will eventually lose their houses.” “Common sense dictates that as you become older, you make less money and become less mobile. When you leave your house, how will you repay these loans?” Many conservative analysts were quick to view Selleck’s retaliation as a political attack as the day progressed. “THIS is why leftists are hating on Tom Selleck today,” said Ann Coulter, re-posting the Belief Net link. The reverse mortgage uproar was not partisan. But many of Coulter’s supporters believed her, and heated debates began to stack up in the comments. Due to Selleck’s personal conservatism, Coulter’s over-simplification may have acquired momentum.

A report that Tom Selleck backed Donald Trump in the 2016 election sparked outrage among Twitter users. While many people talked about it, it turned out to be untrue.
