Williams was born Anson William Heimlich on the 25th of September, 1949, and was raised in Los Angeles, California. His father’s name is Haskell Heimlick who lawfully changed the spelling of his household name to Heimlick. Due to treating choking victims, he changed the spelling to Heimlich.  Upon his education, Anson attended Burbank High School where he played for the track team as a captain.
